Show Highway accident takes life of Mapleton man James LeRoy Peterson, 70, of Mapleton, died at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 10, 1967, in the Payson Hospital, following follow-ing an automobile-dump truck collision at the Holley Service Station crossroad in Mapleton. The accident happened at 12.28 and involved the Peterson vehicle driven by Hollis Jex Peterson, 26, son of the deceased, de-ceased, and a highway dump truck driven by Alma J. Toone, 63, of Ephraim. Neither of the latter two men were injured, in-jured, officers reported. The Peterson car driven by Hollis Peterson was southbound on Highway 89 and turned left at the Holley station " when it collided with the north-bound state highway truck. Mr. Peterson Pe-terson was taken to the Pay-son Pay-son Hospital where he suc-cumed suc-cumed at 2 p.m. following the impact. State trooper Sterling Christianson and Chief of Police Po-lice Ashley Graham investigated. investigat-ed. Fay Jensen, Mapleton chief arrived on the scene moments later from Provo to assist. Surviving besides Hollis of Mapleton is another son, Earl of Spanish Fork and grandchildren. grandchil-dren.
