Show as a member of the Tactical Air Command. Airman Amnions Am-nions was graduated from the Springville High School. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bleggi who have been living in Calif, for the past few months have moved back to Mapleton. He was employed on a drilling job. Mrs. June Blanchard and her mother, Mrs. Olive Whiting spent one day last week visiting visit-ing in Heber Valley. They had lunch at the Homestead then visited with Mrs. Nellie Wright of Midway and with Dr. and Mrs. Rex Whiting in Heber. Mapleton Nevs Mrs. Blake Everett Mrs. Roy Tanner will be the new correspondent for the Springville Herald beginning next week. She succeeds Mrs. Blake Averett, who has a new position as school clerk. Mrs. Tanner and the Springville Herald would appreciate all Mapleton news phoned to her. Her number is 489-4887. The annual Binks family reunion re-union was held at the Mapleton Park Saturday, August 12. There were 102 in attendance with 30 of these being from California. A large group came from Salt Lake, some from Price, and others were from local towns. Some of those who came from distant places were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Binks, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jacobson of Bell Gardens, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Reese Mower of Bloom-ington, Bloom-ington, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Binks of Fontana, Calif. They had a nice program, played play-ed ball and had a supper at the patio on the park. Mrs. Hannah Han-nah Binks of Mapleton was chairman of this year's reunion. reun-ion. Mr .and Mrs. Joe Binks are staying at the home of Mrs. Hannah Binks for a week, or two. The other family members who came for the reunion from California, are enjoying a camping trip in Hobble Creek Canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Binks operates one of Miss Etta Lee's homes for boys at Fontana, and they brought all nine boys and a teacher and his wife, Joan and Don Shurtliff with them. They have been camped at Kelly's Grove, and have been fishing, tubing on the Provo River, went on the Timp Hike and enjoyed many other things during their stay here. Mr .and Mrs. Clyde Stevens and daughter Robyn, have moved back to Utah from California. Cal-ifornia. They are presently staying with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stevens until they can find a home. Mrs. Norma Canto is expected expec-ted to be released from the Utah Valley Hospital this week, where she has been confined con-fined following surgery. Mr .and Mrs. Welby Warren were hosts at a dinner Friday evening for two of Mrs. Warren's War-ren's aunts and an uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Binks of Bell Gardens, Calif., and Mrs. Hannah Han-nah Binks of Mapleton. Tuesday, Tues-day, August 15, they were entertained en-tertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norris Binks. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Sumsion (Nolene Hjorth) and two children, chil-dren, Julie and Grant of Ur-bana, Ur-bana, Illinois, are spending several weeks with her parents Mr .and Mrs. Carlos Hjorth. Mrs. Rowena Palmer is home after spending two weeks in Casper,. Wyoming, where she taught handicraft at the summer sum-mer school for the blind which is sponsored by the Lions Clubs of Wyoming each summer. She made the trip by plane with Lois Maxwell of Salt Lake City, who teaches typing and braille to the group. This is Mrs. Palmer's fourth summer sum-mer to teach in this program. The school is held at a beautiful beauti-ful summer camp in the mountains moun-tains near Casper. Three Mapleton families have been having a wonderful time this week playing host to some English Scouts who attended the jamboree in Idaho. Bishop and Mrs. Harold Gividen have Eric Waters and Trevor Wil-kins Wil-kins at their home; Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Bushman have John Lowerson a leader and Christopher Allen staying with them, and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hjorth have David Stevenson, a leader and John Law who is 14 and an Eagle Scout in their home. Mr. Hjorth took them up to see the Scout camp at Maple Dell, which seemed . to impress them very much. He left Tuesday morning to take Mr. Stevenson, Mr. Law, his son Richard, and two leaders from Provo, to see the canyons of southern Utah and the Grand Canyon. These Scouts had seen brochures of the canyons can-yons and were so anxious to see them that they had planned plan-ned to rent a car and drive down by themselves, but Mr. Hjorth volunteered to take them. The entire group in this area ar-ea were taken on a tour of the BYU campus on Saturday. Many of them expressed their feelings about the beautiful buildings and the exceptionally beautiful setting of this campus. cam-pus. The Scouts will be leaving for their homes on Sunday. Leonard Pulsipher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Le Roy Pulsipher, Pulsi-pher, has enlised in the U. S. Navy and will take his basic training at San Diego, Calif. Paul V. Ammons son of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Ammons has been promoted to airman first class in the U. S. Air Force. He is an administrative spec-ialits spec-ialits at Luke AFB, Arizona, |
