Show Federal funds spending fixed Preliminary apportionment of $350,365.13 in Federal Aid funds for fish and wildlife restoration res-toration projects become available avail-able to Utah's Department of Fish and Game on July 1, 1966. The preliminary allotment calls for $292,680.09 for wildlife wild-life under the Pitman-Robert-soon Act and $57,685.04 for fisheries programs under the Dingell-Johnson Act. The early apportionment was made again this year to help the states program those activities ac-tivities and projects more advantageously ad-vantageously which are dependent depend-ent upon these funds. Under the Federal Aid program, pro-gram, the states spend their own money on approved projects pro-jects and are then reimbursed up to 75 percent of the total cost. Funds come from a federal excise tax on sporting arms and ammunition and sport fishing fish-ing gear. The formula under which they are allocated to the states is based on the number of paid license holders and the total land area of each state. All 50 states participate in the program. |
