Show Bids opened March 29 on freeway job Bids will be opened March 29 for the bituminous surfacing of 8.52 miles of 1-15 freeway " between Provo and Spanish 1 Fork, the Utah State Road 1 Commission revealed Saturday. I The bids, which will be ac-companied ac-companied by proposals for two 'I steel beam overpasses, will be a major contract in the completion com-pletion of 1-15 through Utah County. District road officials have previously estimated that 1-15 should be open between Provo and Spanish Fork in the late fall of this year, and from there to Santaquin thus completing the Utah county segment by the late fall of 1967. The March 29 bid opening will take place at 2 p.m. in the new State Office Building on Capitol Hill in Salt Lake City. The project is to be completed in 140 working days which is about six months continuous calendar time. Another major road building job in Utah County has already I ben announced for this summer! the construction of over 4.56 miles of road to realign U.S. I 189 (Provo Canyon highway) from the mouth of Provo Canyon Can-yon to Provo. Bids for this job will be opened March 22. The realignment will go straight north on University Avenue from Provo's 1230 No.,1 continuing west of the present 189 and joining it at the mouth of the canyon. |
