Mr. and Mrs. Burtis Elliott of this city and other members of his family were at Layton recently to visit a sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Barber, who came to Utah for a visit from their home in Anchorage, Alaska. Mrs. Afton Clark returned recently to her home in Springville Spring-ville after visiting in California for most of the summer. She was at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William (LuDean) Payne, at Costa Mesa. While she was there they all enjoyed a 10-day trip through Texas into New Mexico, to Carlsbad Caverns, Grand Canyon and Flagstaff, Ariz. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Herman-sen Herman-sen (Carolyn Child) recently attended a 2-day (regional conference con-ference of the American Institute Insti-tute of Industrial Engineers at world-famous Camelback Inn near Phoenix, Arizona. Aside from the meetings, the convention conven-tion attenders enjoyed sunbathing sunbath-ing at the beautiful pool area of the Inn and the many other oth-er tourist attractions in the vicinity. vi-cinity. Mrs. Hal (Merry Metcalf) Rich and two children, Marri-anne Marri-anne and John, have returned to their home in EI Centro, Calif., after a ten-day visit in Springville with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Metcalf and other relatives and friends. They made the return trip by plane. She accompanied her parents, the Maurice Metcalfs back to Springville, after they had spent a week with the Riches in California. They also took a trip to Mexicali. En-route En-route to California, Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf stopped to see another daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Kathleen Metcalf Met-calf and family at Las Vegas. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Parry and family of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Ida-ho, were house guests over the weekend at the home of Mr and Mrs. Ray Lovell. They came especially to attend the BYTJ Homecoming and to visit vis-it a daughter at the "Y". The Parrys were former residents of Springville, living at Brook-side Brook-side a number of years ago. while Mr. Parry completed his schooling at BYTJ. Donald Watts now living at Richland, Wash., came back to Springville to visit his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Don Watts and to attend BYU Homecoming games and other festivities, returning re-turning home Sunday. Pistol Pete, famous Oklahoma Okla-homa gunman, died in 1958 at the age of 97. His six-gun with 11 notches, cowboy hat and boots, have now been given to the State University for preservation. pres-ervation. His real name was Frank Eaton. |
