Show Mapleton News Mrs. Blake Everett Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Curtis Cur-tis have moved back to Maple-ton Maple-ton after making their home in Ashton, Idaho, for some time. Mrs. Curtis is the former form-er Darlene Olson of Payson. Mapleton and Springville firemen w ere called Wednesday Wednes-day night to battle a blaze which destroyed an abandoned home in the west part of Mapleton. Ma-pleton. Cause of the blaze is unknown. The Mapleton Firemen Auxiliary Aux-iliary meeting was held Tuesday Tues-day of last week at the home of Lenore Bills. President Lois Graves presided at the meeting, meet-ing, and opening prayer was offered by chaplain Cleola Evans. Ev-ans. Secretary Donna Bleggi read the minutes. A demonstration was given by Ned Poulson and Roger Evans, Ev-ans, Mapleton firemen, on how to use fire extinguishers. Cora Lee Johnson gave a talk and displayed her collection collec-tion of handkerchiefs. At the close of the evening, refreshments refresh-ments were served by hostesses Arlene Antonino, Cleola Evans and Lenore Bills. Camp Mapleton DUP was held last week at the home of Hannah Binks. Captain Belva Wentz conducted the meeting. Opening prayer was given by Eva Bird and a history was read by Marva Whiting. The lesson was given by Martha Whiting. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Binks, Marva Whiting Whit-ing and Ruby Jensen. A new 4-H club for boys was organized this month. The boys will be studying electricity, electri-city, and they gave their club the name of "The Sparking Ten." Duane Rowberry and Kay Bills are the leaders with the first meeting being held at the Rowberry home. The following fol-lowing boys were elected as officers: of-ficers: David Hall, president; Brent Wiscombe, vice president; presi-dent; Gordon Bills, secretary; Mark Poulson, reporter; Russell Rus-sell Rowberry, game leader; Scot and Wayne Shelley, song leaders; Kenneth Spencer, Parley Par-ley Johnson and Dan Johnson, members. They have a lot of interesting things planned for ' the year. |
