There were over 100 citizens present, several expressed themselves as being opposed to it and none except Mrs. Snow expressed themselves in favor of it. The mayor expressed appreciation appre-ciation to those present for their attendance and interest and said the council would act on it in the regular council meeting. The regular meeting was held at 8:00 o'clock with Mayor May-or Paul M. Haymond in the Chair and it was deceided that dancing could not be allowed at beer taverns. Water study Lynn M. Thatcher, director of the Division of Environmental Environ-mental Health, and members of the City County Health Department De-partment were present at the request of the Governor to discuss dis-cuss problems pertinent to the culinary water supply of the city. They pointed out that the only safe culinary water without with-out treatment was from deep wells 100 feet deep or more. The cities should strive to keep everybody healthy and are responsible re-sponsible for damage suits or sickness if it was traceable to drinking impure water. The Governor recommended an extensive program of water sampling and testing be carried car-ried on until the middle of November, No-vember, after which the results could be evaluated.
