Show Mapleton girl wins medal as Army nurse Captain LaRue Stone Keller, U.S. Army Nurse Corps, the daughter of George and Marie Stone of Mapleton, was recently recent-ly the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal. She is presently enrolled in school at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The citation accompanying the medal reads as follows: ". . . for exceptionally meritorious mer-itorious service during the period per-iod 18 June 1863 to 22 Decern- i 8 ..: Captain LaRue Stone Keller, TJ. S. Army Nurs Corps, presented pre-sented army commendation medal for outstanding work ber 1964, while serving as Educational Ed-ucational Coordinator, United States Army Hospital, Fort Rucker, Alabama. Captain Keller Kel-ler organized the first Educational Educa-tional Coordinator Office established estab-lished at this facility. Her conspicuously con-spicuously outstanding performance perfor-mance of duty, marked by vast professional knowledge and administrative ad-ministrative excellence, contributed con-tributed immeasurably to the educational program throughout through-out the Army Medical Service. In discharging the responsibilities responsibil-ities inherent to this important position, she displayed initiative initia-tive and drive which enabled her to accomplish every task with alacrity and maximum efficiency. ef-ficiency. Her stability, tremendous tremen-dous store of knowledge, un-vacillating un-vacillating devotion to duty and extremely pleasant personality person-ality commanded the respect and admiration of all who were associated with her. Captain Keller's sustained outstanding performance of duty and many individual achievements were in keeping with the most cherished cher-ished traditions of the United States Army and reflect the utmost credit upon herself, the Army Medical Service and the military establishment. |
