' ; members win state honors iSpringville High School r of FFA made a fine at the recent state con vention in Salt Lake City, reports re-ports Bill Fullmer, publicity ' chairman of the chapter. John Crandall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Condie Crandall of Mapleton received the $100 farm electrification award. He was judged as having the best program in this phase of FFA work in the state. He has made an arc welder, rewired his shop and house in addition to doing other electric jobs. John and another chapter member, Duane Alleman, son of Mr .and Mrs. Max Alleman, received the State Farmer Award. To receive this award, a member must have made $500 from his project, must have leadership qualities and be a member of a chapter. The State Farmer Award is the highest degree given on a state level, with only two percent of the members qualifying. Loren Phillips, FFA adviser, is to receive an honorary State Farmer Degree for being the adviser of a Gold Emblem Chapter. An enjoyable part of the convention was the Sweetheart Banquet at which Springville was represented by Carolyn Johnson. |
