Mendenhall conference visitors Mapleton wards complete building project; dedicatory services set Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m., for the didication of the new addition. Leadership meetings will be held Saturday afternoon for stake home teaching and Relief Re-lief Society workers. There will be a Saturday evening meeting beginning at 7 p.m., for priesthood leaders to which stake presidency, clerks, high council, bishoprics and clerks and Melchezedek Priesthood presidencies and group leaders are requested to attend. Elder McConkie will give the dedicatory prayer and speak at the dedication of the recently constructed improvements to the Mapleton Wards Building. The services will mark the completion of a building pro ject carried on by the two Mapleton Ma-pleton wards during the past two years which has included enlarging of the chapel to the east, addition of new classrooms class-rooms to the south wing of the building, and a general ren- ! ruce R. Stake President, E. A. Strong, Jr., will also speak briefly. Music will be by the' ward choir and the combined ward choirs, directed by Marilyn Tuttle, June Houtz, accompanist. accompan-ist. LaVere Tippetts will sing, "Bless This House," with Mrs. Maurice Bird, accompanist. The invocation will be by Welby Warren, former bishop and the benediction by S. Reed Bennett, also a former bishop. Prelude and postlude music will be by June Houtz. Elder McConkie graduated from the University, of Utah in 1937 with a bachelor of arts degree and in 1939 with a bachelor of laws degree. He was a member of the Utah State Bar and a practicing attorney; at-torney; and assistant city attorney at-torney and .city prosecutor, 1940-42. READY FOR DEDICATORY SERVICES The Mapleton Maple-ton LDS Chapel, recently renovated and enlarged, will be dedicated Sunday at 4 p.m. rn services following the after noon session of Kolob Stake quarterly conference by Elder Bruce McConkie. The chapel building houses the Mapleton and Mapleton Second Wards. The general public is invited. Kolob Stake sets conference, dedication (Continued from Page One.) vice Command. He returned to civilian life with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He joined the American Legion and at present holds the rank of Lieutenant Lieu-tenant Colonel in the Field Artillery reserve. For several months after the war he was a member of The Deseret News editorial staff, a position he still holds on a part-time basis. As a member of the General Authorities he has been Servicemen's coordinator coordi-nator for the Church, supervising super-vising the spiritual guidance program for thousands of young men in the armed services. |
