Show Employee notes 45 years with telephone firm Thomas Jones celebrated his forty-fifth birthday with the Mountain States Telephone Company at a special party in his honor last Friday, at Riverside Riv-erside Country Club. Mr. Jones resides in Provo. He began working for the telephone company in 1915 as a messenger boy after school, delivering messages to families who did not at that time have a telephone. - At the time he started his career with the .company, it was then known as the Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone Company Com-pany which later became the Mountain States. During the past forty five years he has had many job assignments working as a messenger mes-senger boy, installer, repairman repair-man and manager. He served as manager at Heber, Payson, and St. George. At present he is a Commercial Representative Representa-tive in Provo. In reflecting back on his experiences ex-periences he recalled the many times it was necessary to patrol pa-trol long distance lines over snow packed mountain passes using snow shoes. Often it would take two and three days at a time to locate the trouble. He states that his most pleasant memories are the many friends and fellow employees em-ployees he has had the opportunity oppor-tunity to work with during his career. |
