Show Waterfowl rules about same CEDAR CITY -Waterfowl hunters will find almost identical regulations to last year's for the 1982-83 waterfowl season. The only exceptions are two regulations pertaining per-taining to Farmington Bay and alterations in the goose season and bag limits in Daggett County. The general waterfowl season for ducks, whistling swan, Wilson's snipe and coot is Oct. 2 through Jan. 2, 1983. The goose season begins one week later on Oct. 9 and runs through Jan. 2, 1983. On Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area, operted by the Division of Wildlife Resources of the Utah Department of Natural Resources, Unit 2 will be open to waterfowl hunting. hun-ting. For the past 15 years, this unit has been used as a rest area for waterfowl, except during opening .weekend of the season. However, changes in Farmington Bay have made closure impractical, according to Al Regenthal, Wildlife Resources waterfowl coordinator. Another regulation change will allow airboaters near the dikes at Farmington Bay south of the Salt Lake City Sewer Canal. Previously, they were not allowed to come within a half mile of the dikes. This year, instead of all Daggett County being limited to a 44-day goose season, only the portion of Daggett County east of Highway U-44 and Highway High-way U-260 will have a shortened season of October 30 through December 12. In this portion of the county, the bag and possession limits for Canada geese are 1 and 2 respectively. Bag limits for all waterfowl species remain the same as in past years. For ducks, the bag and possession limits are seven and fourteen respectively; except no more than two can-vasbacks can-vasbacks or two redheads, or one of each may be taken daily, or more than four singly or in the aggregate may be possessed. The daily bag limit for Canada geese is two, and the daily bag limit for white geese is three. The goose possession limit is six, no more than four of which may be Canada geese. In Washington County, the goose season is October 23 to January 16, 1983, and the daily bag and possession limits are two and two. Goose hunting is prohibited on Fish Springs and Ouray National Wildlife areas and Desert Lake Waterfowl Managemenl Area. Waterfowl proclamations will bt available the middle ol September. - |
