Ed M. Pitts: "It would depend on how the city established it and if they were ready to take it over or not. I think that it would be cheaper if the city set up a municipal power system. But if they do, they need to be organized and really , ready to take over." Tonya Payne: "I am satisfied with what they have already with Utah Power & Light. It is new here in Cedar City and it has done a pretty good orjob.-I don't think that the .... -city needs to build a new system." Ted Story: "I don't' know where they could get the money to obtain the source without raising my taxes. If they go with a different source of power other than what they already have they would have to raise taxes. I'm pro free enterprise and anti-government I guess." Shirlene Rosenberg: "I don't feel that the city is going to be able to get cheaper power no matter how hard they try. If the city takes it over we would probably have to make up for it in taxes or something else. It really won't make that much of a difference whether UP&L or the city has the system." Royce Chamberlain: "I would guess that there is power available to municipal systems if the City wanted to look for it. Even cheaper power would be as much as expensive power now. I imagine if they look hard enough that they'll find cheaper power, but I don't know what it will do to the outlying area. It might be cheaper in Cedar City because of the short lines, but it might still be a little more expensive ex-pensive outside of the " city." Pat Warby: "I thought I was for UP&L when it first started but they haven't done to well. But if we went into our system it might be more than the city can handle. If they could do it and handle it without any problems then I think it would be alright to go ' with a municipal power source. |
