Show Letters Editor: y Are you enjoying the charade? With the PSC decision, you are witnessing wit-nessing the exact performance of money and politics that brought CPN to Southern Utah by ignoring the vote and will of , you, the people. In exactly the same way, UP&L is forcing its way into Southern Utah by again ignoring the majority vote and mandate of you, the people. i The ruling implies that the Southern Utan community leaders are not smart enough or capable; of running an electric system like St. George, Parowan, Hurricane, Bountiful and 33 other cities in the state with lower rates. Neither will you or your vote be allowed to determine "Public Interest" for your own communities. So ruled big brother state government and Utah Power and Light. They have rejected all of your engineering, legal, financial expertise, organizations . . . and for the second time ... the majority vote and will of you, the people! . We're disgusted and we believe you are too because all of the best studies showed UP&L was not in your best interest or the best interest of southern Utah. We knew we had problems when PSC Commissioner Cameron traveled to Southern Utah with and at the expense of UP&L and then refused to recuse himself from the decision. UP&L has only been given the right to make a touchdown, but we've got the ball. We've been running hard for five years, picking up yardage of public opinion, never fumbling once. Now the goal is in sight. The Supreme court is left. We want you at a public meeting Saturday morning at 10 at the Cedar City Public Library. You're going to win, because you've had the best knowledge available, and you voted for your own power system on that knowledge. The only way your vote tor your own electric system and lower rates wHl be ignored again is if good; people do nothing. 1 , We want to heat from your Saturday. Carl L. Palmer, President : Southwest Utah Power Federation |
