Show Planners have slow night It was a relatively quiet evening for the Iron County Planning and Zoning Commission at its regular meeting last week. There were only five items on the agenda; one of those was taken care of by way. of correspondence, correspon-dence, one was routine commission business, and representatives for two others didn't appear. In the one item where there was a presentation, discussion and action, preliminary approval was given to Steve Brown to divide a lot in Far West Subdivision into five smaller lots. The 25 acres would be divided into five five-acre lots, all fronting Corn-stock Corn-stock Road about 18 miles west of Cedar City. The preliminary approval ap-proval was given to save Brown the expense of engineering a final plat without knowing the Commission's feelings. He must now obtain such a plat and present it for final approval. Chairman Dallin Gardner told the Commission Com-mission that Brown is selling the lots through his company; however, Iron County Attorney James L. Shumate said he saw no need for the chairman to disqualify himself. The vote was unanimous for approval. In another matter, the Commission received and read a letter from engineer Ralph Watson requesting a one-year time extension for submitting sub-mitting the Summit Pines plat for final approval. ap-proval. Shumate advised that the exextension could be extended "for just cause," and the Commission Com-mission approved such. The letter didn't specify a cause and, even though several theories were tossed around, the Commissioners weren't sure; thus, they stipulated that Watson submit another letter showing the cause. In other business, the Commission received the final draft of the amended master plan, subdivision ordinances and zoning ordinances which it has been working on for some time. The Commissioners will review them and then consider referring the final copy to the County Commission for approval. |
