Show I ' 'V ' ( " srniv. - Diann Christiansen . . . receives Award Sterling Silver awardgiven Diann Christiansen, a senior theater arts major from Orem, is the recipient of the Sterling Silver Award for 1980-81 at Southern Utah State College. Christianson was one of six women students nominated for the award by the Associated Women's Council, a student group at SUSC. She was selected by SU2C faculty and staff women who annually vote for the winner of the prestigious award. "The Sterling Silver Award recipient is selected on the basis of leadership ability, academic achievement, and for displaying characteristics as a motivator and as one who is energetic, reliable, dependable, enthusiastic, responsible and selfless,", said Betty Kingsford, associate dean of students. Christianson received the award at the conclusion con-clusion of SUSC's annual Mother-Daughter Weekend. Week-end. The 1,980-81 award; recipient is the daughter of Jack and Murl Christianson. She is a 1969 graduate of Orem High School and a Snow College graduate where she earned the associate degree. She will graduate from SUSC June 5 with a BA in theater arts. Christianson is currently in rehearsal as Dorothy for SUSC's upcoming campus-community campus-community musical "The Wiz," a modern day version of "The Wizard of Oz." While at SUSC she has appeared as . a housewife and telephone operator for the musical "Working," a performance per-formance earning her honors as a finalist in Irene Ryan Scholarship competition. She has also appeared as Little Mary in the SUSC melodrama . "Little Mary Sunshine" and as Marianne in "New Moon." Other roles to her credit are Rosalie in "Carnival," Anna in "The King and I," Ado Annie in "Oklahoma," Golde in "Fiddler on the Roof," Mrs. Durrant in "Cactus Flower," Suzy in "Wait Until Dark" and Sarah Strakosh in "Funny Girl." Chr&iinson was the v second attendant to the SUSC homecoming queen in 1979, a contest where she was also named Miss Congeniality. She performed per-formed at the homecoming pageant in 1980-81 |
