Show Fire danger extreme says local ranger Dangerous fire conditions con-ditions now exist on National Forest lands due to dry weather during the past two months according ac-cording to Cedar City District Forest Rollo Brunson. Man's carelessness has caused 60 percent of the wildfires occuring on the Cedar City Ranger District to date this season. Improperly extinguished cigarettes have reulted in three fires which caused significant resource damage, and cost over $40,000 to control. Firewood gatherers, recreationists and other Forest visitors are urged to use extreme caution with fire, and to make sure all cigarettes, campfires, and other burning material is extinguished ex-tinguished completely before being left. |
