Show Miss Iron County Rodeo named "Miss Congeniality' Effie Jan Sorensen currently reigning as Miss Rodeo Iron County won "Miss Congeniality" at the Miss. Rodeo Utah contest. The contest was held July 22 & 23 in connection with Ogden's Pioneer Days Celebration. Miss. Sorensen received a platter compliments of Zions 1st National Bank. She is the vivacious, 19 year old daughter of DeMoin and Lucy Sorensen of Cedar City. She graduated from Cedar High in 1979 and is now enrolled as a Sophomore at SUSC where she is majoring in PE. . When asked what she enjoyed most about the contest she said, "I was glad to go and represent Iron County. The friendships friend-ships I made at the contest are ones that I will cherish forever. J' EFFIE JAN SORENSON Miss Rodeo Iron County Colorado River below Glen Canyon closed to boating A six-mile section of the Colorado River immediately im-mediately below Glen Canyon Dam will be closed to boating through Saturday to permit the third phase of a detailed fishery study, Upper Colorado Regional Director Bill Plummer, of the Water and Power Resources Service announced an-nounced today. During the study period, a cable will be stretched across the Colorado River to permit measurements of flow velocities and the preparation of accurate river bottom profiles. The operation of Glen Ganyon Dam will be restricted to 26,000 cubic feet per second cfs) for an 12 hour period (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) during the day to facilitate the study. "This work is being done as part of our assessment of the possible impacts of adding ad-ding generating units to the Glen Canyon Powerplant and of operating the plant for peaking power,"-Plummer power,"-Plummer said.
