Show County School Board okays sale of $5.7 million bond The Iron County School Board ap- proved a bid for sale of $5.7 million in school building bonds to a consortium headed by Continental Bank and Trust, Salt Lake City, at their regular meeting July 22 in Cedar City. Other syndicates represented were Harris Trust and Savings, Chicago,Ill., Northern Bank . and Trust, also of Chicago, and Zion's First National Bank, Salt Lake City. The bonds were sold in order to fund a ' proposed elementary school in the Fiddler's Canyon area, proposed additions ad-ditions to Enoch Elementary School and possible purchase of property in the near future for another Cedar City secondary school, according to Klein Rollo, school board member. Rollo said the bidding syndicates represented individual groups "from Miami to California." In other decisions the board: -Rejected bids for furnace oil for East Elementary, and authorized the Superintendant to negotiate each purchase separately. -Approved a bid from Meadow Gold Dairies to supply mi'k to Cedar City, Enoch and Parowan schools," for 11.9 cents per half -pint for whole milk and 11 cents for low fat milk. A bid was also approved for Wood's General Store to supply Escalante Valley schools with milk at 15.46 cents per half -pint of whole and 14.97 cents for low fat milk. -Approved the employment of Beth Steel Gale as a second grade teacher at Enoch Elementary and Shirley White as secretary at Parowan Elementary. -Approved a bid from Reber Bros., Cedar City, to repaint the Cedar High School Auditorium and refinish part of the stage area. The bid was $7,197. -Tabled a motion to eliminate trampolines from use in county schools and to ban use of motorized vehicles in areas other than roads and designated parking areas, to await more input from schools -Appointed the Gardner Partnership of . Cedar City as architects for Escalante Valley, East Elementary and Cedar High School additions and remodeling projects. -Approved Iron County Objectives for the 1980-81 year. Some include: improving maintenance and appearance ap-pearance of buildings and grounds, maintaining a dropout rate of 3 percent or less for high school students, conducting con-ducting energy programs on, all campuses and administering of minimum competency tests to students, with appropriate follow-up. |
