Show County plans gala 24th 'M - ' . . J $ .hi Cedar City, Parowan and Enoch all plan festivities to celebrate the July 24th. Pioneer Day holiday. The Cedar City celebration will begin tonight with a pioneer and modern dance at the tennis court of the Cedar. City Downtown Park. With the theme "The Best of Two Worlds...l50 Years of Progress," the dance will feature both square and modern dancing, says Kimball Weaver, chairman of the planning committee. The dance will run from 9 p.m. midnight. Root beer floats, at 10 cents, and popcorn at only five cents, will be served at the event, open to everyone 14 years of age and older. The dance is under the direction of Nancy Sorenson of the Cedar LDS Stake. The Cedar City Pioneer Day Parade, themed "150 Years With the Pioneers," will take place along Main Street, beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday. Hunter Grimshaw will be the grand marshal and lead the parade on horseback. At 10:30 a.m., the Daughters of Utah Pioneers will present a special program at the Rock Church on Center Street. Also following the parade will be concessions, games and a bake sale at the Downtown City Park. Cedar City will also be host to Little and Senior Little League tournaments, with games beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing well into the evening at the City Baseball Complex on 200 East. An added atraction to Cedar City's celebration of the 24th will be the presentation of the LDS production "Within These Walls." The play will be presented free of charge to the public on Thur. Fri. and Sat. evenings at 8 p.m. at the Cedar West Stake Center. The Cedar City Swimming Pool, located at the junior High School, will be open Thur. from noon to 4:30 p.m. for free swimming announced Dick Coston, Pool manager. From 6-8:30 p.m. admission ad-mission will be 50 cents for everyone. Day Dance, sponsored by Cedar High School's Class of 1981, will be held by the outdoor pool, from 9-11:30 p.m. For more information, Call 586-7481. Parowan's celebrations will begin Thur. morning at 9 : 30 with a flag raising at the Iron County Court House. This will be followed by a miniture parage, featuring a pioneer theme. 10 a.m., a pioneer program will begin in the Second Ward Cultural Hall. The Parowan LDS Stake will serve a free lunch at 11 a.m., with everyone invited to attend. At 1 p.m., that afternoon, af-ternoon, booths and games will be set up on the Church Square. Evening activities will include a variety show to be outd oors near the First and Second Ward B'uilding, and a family movie at 9 p.m., also outdoors. Activity planners have asked Parowan residents and vistiors to bring chairs and blankets to sit on and their own dishes for the luncheon. All activities Thur. ar e under the direction of the Parowan LDS Stake. The Town of Enoch will celebrate Pioneer day Thursday at the Enoch LDS Ward building. Festivities will begin at 7 a.m., with a flag raising ceremony under the direction of the Boy Scouts, at the ward building. At 11 :30 a.m., there will be a miniture parade from - Grimshawville to the Minersville Highway, with prizes awarded to outstanding entries. A program will follow at noon at the ward building. Starting at 12:30 food will be served at the Enoch Ward Park, just east of the ward building. A menu of chicken, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips and homemade pie is planned.
