LET HER BLOW: Utah Power and Light's 1.6 megawatt Bi-phase power plant is almost ready to spring to life. Workmen told the COUNTY NEWS Monday, that they expected to energize the substation sub-station (background) right away, and they hoped to be ready to turn geothermal fluids Into the plant this week. They have built the steel building on the left to house the Bi -Phase generator -separateor building on the left to house the Bl -Phase generator -separator, and have built a buffer to release the steam Into the foreground. Liquid will be reinjected back into the reservoir after it's used to generate the power. The plant is being Installed for a two month test, but there Is some question if it will be moved as planned. Work is expected ex-pected to start soon on a 20 megawatt steam plant, but the Bl -Phase can be used to separate the steam for the 20 megawatt while producing power from the fluids, and would eliminate the need for the separator on the right. It. is also , possible to add a steam turbine to the Bi- ... Phase in the foreground and bring the capacity of the unit up to 7 -10 megawatts. The unit is on Phillips Petroleum well 54-3 about thirteen thir-teen miles north of Milford, but we note by the barrels In the foreground fore-ground they are using Texaco products. |
