Milk from the udder quarters quar-ters of cows treated with antibiotics for mastitis can be fermented and fed safely to calves. Research cited by Dr. Clell V. Bagley, extension exten-sion veterinarian, UtahState University, has shown that calves fed this mastitic milk from birth to 29 days of age, grow and gain just as well as calves fed fresh whole milk. In fact, fewer of these calves developed scours than the others. No unusual health problems were encountered in any of the calves up to a yea old.
