Show Bog sled races oof Sled dog teams from all' over the west will becoming ' to Brian Head Ski Resort, on December 8 and 9, for one of the major races of the year, with a $1,000 purse to the winners. The race has received official of-ficial sanctioning from the International Sled Dog Racing Rac-ing Association. This means that the participants may earn valuable points toward an international cham -pionship. The major events scheduled sched-uled are three long distance races. Teams with three dogs will be going three miles. Drivers, experienced enough to handle the larger five and seven dog teams, will be going five to seven -miles respectively. .; The course has been laid out on the rim of the canyon country, at Cedar Breaks I National Monument. Each team will run one heat on Saturday and another onSun-day. onSun-day. Best time will be taken as final. i Other events will include ' a children's race and a pee wee race for toddlers. Larger Lar-ger dogs will participate In a weight pulling contest. Last year's Champion pulled a ) sledge loaded with 1800 pounds. I The race is being held under un-der a permit from Dixie Na- ' tional Forest and Cedar Breaks National Monument. Spectators are urged to leave , their pets at home.
