Waddingham on the pending civil action to recover m iss -ing city funds from former i recorder Nadine Jones . They discussed a possible nego- tiated settlement. They also discussed I recreational bond issue on the ballot this fall, to give the citizens a vote in whether to purchase the golf course or not. Walker seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. un-animous. Councilman Pettey said the sprinkling system in the Historical Park must be completed as soon as possible.- The Milford Historical Histor-ical Society has $500.00 in trees puchased and cannot plant them until it is install ed. If not completed by Jul 15, they will have to sell thi trees in order to keep fron losing them . They approved several transfers of funds rom one department to anoi ar within with-in the general fund to balance each department before the end of the fiscal year. They also adopted Ordinance Or-dinance 49, General budget for fiscal year 1978-79 with a general fund of $117,-533.74. $117,-533.74. ; The budget is based bas-ed on a 20 mill levy, an increase in-crease of one mill over last year. However, there will be no increase in the total city levy, because one mill was dropped from the bond retirement fund. After some discussion over ov-er the offer of the Milford Golf Assn. to sell the golf course to the city for the Assn. indebtedness, approximately approx-imately $52,000, Councilman Pettey said, "We owe these people an answer." All agreed that the price was a bargain, and that the water right alone was worth the purchase price. The property has been appraised with the low appraisal at $93,000 and the high appraisal at $250,000. Five holes are completed, with sprinkling system in, and in operation. The Golf Assn. Proposal includes all assets including 96 acres, a 43 acre water right (172 acre feet of water) and all facilities. Pettey moved that the City proceed to purchase the property, and work with the Milford State Bank to take over the present loan at 5-12 5-12 percent interest. Han-ley Han-ley seconded the motion, with those two voting for an Walker and Swain against. Mayor Young in his first ever ev-er vote as Mayor, voted no to defeat the motion. Swain then moved to put a HERE'S MORE ABOUT CITY COUNCIL dump and cover twice a month for $150.00. Swain moved the city allot $3,000.00 for maintance of the dump for the next fiscal year. Hanley seconded and all were In favor. Brad Jefferson met with the city. He said that water wat-er to his irrigation system had been cut off. He was not aware when he purchased purchas-ed the property that it had two hookups. He objected to the city's demand he pay the second hookup, but said he'd willingly pay a double water bill during the months when the outside hookup was used. The property involved at one time was part of the city park, and sold to E. L.Smith with sprinkling system intact, The matter was finally re -solved by sticking to the ordinance, or-dinance, which gave no relief to Jefferson. In other city action: Betty Bacon was appointed ap-pointed bail bondsman; Marshall Cox demonstrated demon-strated the new paging devices, de-vices, which will keep the on duty officer In immediate contact with the hospital. Waddingham's services ser-vices to date in the civil action; Pettey reported the swimming pool was in good shape, and recommended raises for pool personnel. He also requested the city crew drag and kill weeds at the ball park. |
