Whiting The 1977-78 school year has come to a close and a class of seniors have graduated grad-uated into the world to chase after their life long dreams of college, jobs, and family fam-ily life. Their theme, 'The End of Us the Beginning of Me', said the whole thing to those who participated with them in the many activities ac-tivities leading up to graduation grad-uation night. The annual awards assembly as-sembly was a special part of those activities. It was there where all the major accomplishments accomp-lishments for the past school year were acknowledged special recognition was given giv-en to those who worked hard to make some project a success. suc-cess. The outstanding Mathe-matic Mathe-matic Student Award was given to Linda Sullivan. The outstanding Home Economic Award was given to Annette Annet-te Van Tassell; the outstanding outstand-ing Business Award was earned by Linda Sullivan; the outstanding English Award went to Michelle Fisher; and Gary Mayer was awarded the outstanding History His-tory Student Award. The outstanding out-standing Music Award was given to Linda Sullivan; Jon Jensen was awarded the out -standing Industrial Arts Award, as well as the outstanding out-standing Science Student Award; and the Most Vale-able Vale-able Athlete Award was given giv-en to Gary Mayer. The Honor Students chosen to represent the senior class at their graduation were Michelle Fisher, Linda Sullivan Sul-livan and Cindy Jimenez. The Dansforth Foundation Awards were given to Kim Gray and Gary Mayer. The Utah Society of the Sons of the Revolution A ward was given to Gary Mayer. As usual there were also many scholarship awarded to the deserving seniors. This year Michelle Fisher was awarded the Hospital Scho -arship for $1500.00, theMil-ford theMil-ford State Bank Scholarship for $400.00 and the Weber State College Scholarship for $411.00 a total of $2311.00. Linda Sullivan received the Stevens Keneger Scholarship Schol-arship for $700.00 and the Milford State Bank Scholarship Scholar-ship for $400.00, totaling $1100.00. This year was oneofakind and it looks like next year will be just as different. They were Charles Coates, Julie Coates, Laura Swain, Nanette Nanet-te Swain, and Cindy Jimenez. Three received the Superior Super-ior Driving Award. They were Gina Dalton, Sherm Sullivan and JanaCorbridge. There were twenty -eight students that earned a place on the scholastic Honor Roll this last year. They were: Pat Sullivan, Lisa Banks, Chris Duffy, Nanette Swain, Blair Coon, Norma Thompson, Thomp-son, Wayne Lowe, Le Ann Hiatt, Elaine Long, Kerri Prodzinski, Kris Sherwood, Lori Jacobsen, Sherm Sullivan, Sul-livan, Lorraine Davis, Dar-rin Dar-rin Malchus, Debbie Brink -man, Patrick Duffy Carol Albrecht, Ken Jones, Denny Myers, Julie Coates, Linda Sullivan, Michelle Fisher, Karen Lowe, Annette Van Tassell, Louise Prodzinski, Kim Gray and Mary Jo Bee-be. Connie Bradshaw received most valuable player. Twenty -two boys lettered in Football: Rick Puffer, Donald Livingston, Leslie Davis, Denis Cox, DougHol-loway, DougHol-loway, David Pullem, Gary Mayer, Brian Gale, Jeff Hardy, Har-dy, Pat Cassell, Denny Myers, My-ers, Jeff Hiatt, Greg Thomas, Russell Rose, Steve Moody, David Munk, Kurt Sherwood, Curtis Baxter, Bax-ter, Steve Wilson, Nick Leko, Mike Lounsbury and Troy Hardy. v Most valuable offensive player award went to Jeff Hardy. Most Valuable Defensive De-fensive player award went to Doug Holloway. Most Valuable Valu-able player was given to Gary Mayer. In Wrestling seven guys lettered. They were: Nick Leko, Todd Lister, Bill Easton, Eas-ton, Denis Cox, Doug Holloway, Hol-loway, Brian Gale, Donald Livingston. Two wrestlers received the most improved wrestler award. They were; Denis Cox and Bill Easton. The outstanding wrestler award went to Doug Hollo -way. Eleven Basketball players - lettered. They were: Denny Myers, Kim Williams, Jeff Atkin, Todd Atkin, Rick Puffer, Puf-fer, Steve Moody, Ken Jones, Brad Kirk, Mark Whitney, Gary Mayer, Jeff Hardy. The outstanding basketball player play-er award was given to Gary Mayer. Coach Hillock also gave his appreciation to his Man- HERE'S MORE ABOUT MHS AWARDS amount of $330.00. Annette Van Tassell received re-ceived a scholarship from SUSC for the amount of $390.00. Arturo de la Torre, an exchange student from Mexico, Mex-ico, was awarded a $150.00 Scholarship from SUSC. Gary Mayer was awarded a full tuition andfeeScholar-ship andfeeScholar-ship from SUSC. Awards received at the business vocational day held at SUSC were announced at the awards assembly. Wayne Lowe received an Honorable Mention in Type I, Leanne Hiatt received an Excellent in Type I. The Filing Team made up of Linda Sullivan, Carl Albrecht, Al-brecht, and Denny Myers, placed second in Region Eight competition. Linda Sullivan placed first and received re-ceived an Excellent in Individual In-dividual filing competition. Carol Albrecht placed third and received an Honorable Mention in individual filing, Carol also received an Honorable Hon-orable Mention in Type n. In Mathematics Darrin Malchus placed fourth in Re -gion Eight competition, Jeff Hiatt placed sixth and Jon Jensen placed ninth. There were eleven to received re-ceived their, certification in Advanced First Aid. They were Mark Whitney, Kurt Sherwood, Tammy Boyter, Laura Swain, Lorraine Davis, Dav-is, Juanita A say, Lauri Kinross, Kin-ross, Laurie Johnson, Jodi Larsen, Julie Coates and Vickie Whiting. The Yearbook Staff, Cindy Jimenez, Editor; Sherm Sullivan, Sul-livan, Business Manager; Tim Miller, Photographer; Kim Gray and Louise Smith, Artists; and Mrs. Elmer, Advisor; received an award from Josten's American Yearbook Company.
