Show You can't do it, even If you try! It's impossible for anybody to stay on top of the federal bureaucracys. There are so many meetings, meet-ings, hearings, impact statements, state-ments, that it is impossible to be aware of all of them, let alone have any imput on the subject material. - 0 - The Interior Department's U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Ser-vice has listed the Colorado River bonytail chub as endangered en-dangered and razorback chub as threatened species. They had already listed the squaw-fish squaw-fish and humpback chub. The state Dept. of Wildlife Wild-life Resources is studying the bonytailed chub in Snake Valley. It's not on the endangered en-dangered list, but they are studying it in case someday it might be. - 0 - What's the difference between be-tween the bonytail chub in Snake Valley and the Colorado? Colo-rado? We doubt that many biologists could tell. It's likely a slight mutation or size difference. - 0 And it's been that way since the beginning of time. And whether you believe in evolution or the scriptures, no one can deny that all form s of life cnange and adapt. A Herford or Angus cow little resembles the animal that breeders began with. Just a few short years ago there was no such thing as a capon. And statistics prove that roan is larger today than ever before. - 0 The dinosaurs are gone! there are no more mam-mouths, mam-mouths, saber tooth tigers, and many others. We believe be-lieve God intended it to be this way. Man was given the intelligence intel-ligence to take advantage of nature and develop it to its best advantage. Would the Endangered Species Act have us return to the tough, stringy beef steak that was cut from those first Her-fords? Her-fords? - 0 We don't believe it was intended in-tended that sub-species such as the wouldfin minnow or snaildarter should obstruct progress. But both are holding hold-ing back projects that would benefit mankind. The Colorado River waters wat-ers are threatened by the existence or non-existence of these fish. Oil shale, coal and nuclear fired power plants in six states which will need Colorado River Water to be developed are threatened. threat-ened. - 0 - To quote William B. Murray, Mur-ray, who quoted a California judge at the Redding, California Cali-fornia meeting of the Public Land Users Coalition. "It is foolish to preserve for future generations what the present generation cannot can-not use wisely and develop to its fullest extent." - 0 - . Geologists tell us that the oil and gas we use today is the result of time, pressure and the extinct fossils of the dinosaurs, crustations, and fishes of yesterday. Maybe the fate of endangered endan-gered species is to provide for future generations through extinction, just as the creatures of millions of years ago. - 0 - There is little danger that any species that man has found to be of use will become be-come extinct. He will breed it, nurture it, cultivate it and make it produce faster and better, than it ever did on its own. 0 (Beautiful per on This , week's COUNTY NEWS beautiful person was submitted by Carol Hutch -ings.
