Show HBfiiri33. Imm plane' Jer pftaiic)I pi q Em f O'Brien Gold, Thermal Power Co. and VTN showed slides and discussed the proposed pro-posed 55 megawatt power plant they plan to build at . Roosevelt Hot Springs. (They repeated the presentation presen-tation that night at the MHS auditorium). Approximately 20 persons were in attendance at-tendance at the Beaver meeting meet-ing and about 30 in Milford. They told the Com-m Com-m issioners and others pre -sent that the proposed plant would produce 55 megawatts of power, with three used in plant operation. They proposed pro-posed to sell 10 megawatts to Bountiful City and the rest to ' Utah Power and Light. They have no firm committments commit-tments and constuction of the plant is dependent on getting a Dept. of Energy Loan. The slide show with William Wil-liam d'Olier' moderating, showed a six month planning stage during which two more wells will be drilled on section sec-tion 16, where O'Brien and Thermal Power Co. have a commercial well. At that time, they should be able to prove the reservoir res-ervoir capacity, and have approval ap-proval of the loan so they can order the power plant. They propose four to seven production pro-duction wells with two to three injection wells. They expect to have power on line by 1982. Mayor Christiansen asked questions about the avail -ability of some power being (Continued on PagfT?) back several years. At Milford he was asked about use of the heat for space heating, warming irrigation waters, hydroponics hydro-ponics and green houses. He said, these were all future possiblitles. Red Wilson asked the groups thinking on unitization. unitiza-tion. They explained the operation op-eration of the geysers, but said the local situation was uncertain, since different wells in the KGRA have varied var-ied production capabilities. Wilson said, "You're saying say-ing that you're not satified with unitization plans that have been offered. What is your opinion of the hydrothermal plant beingin-stalled beingin-stalled on Phillips 54-3 by Jy Jet Propulsion Laboratories?" Labora-tories?" It's just In the test stage we will have to see how it works. Jack DeAngelo, VTN, took over answering most of the questions at Beaver. In Milford that evening, Ron Forrest, Phillips Petroleum, Pe-troleum, asked if they felt safe drilling that close to the dome fault. He suggested that there was a possibility that a well could be uncontrollable, uncon-trollable, thereby setting geothermal development Forrest if he was challenging challeng-ing the competence of the companies? d'Olier noted that the plant . would add $34-36 million tax base to Beaver County, and when completed would require re-quire a staff of 14-16. In other commission action, ac-tion, Commissioner Howard Pryor reported on a meeting meet-ing of the AOG Southwest District Health. The entire en-tire meeting was conducted in closed session and he was not allowed in. He said violations vio-lations of the state open-meeting open-meeting law were been Investigated. In-vestigated. However, they reserved any absolute decision until after the April 6 meeting. HERE'S MORE ABOUT COMMISSION made available to Beaver City or to a Beaver County municipal plant. He also questioned the reinjection of reservior water back into the ground, and whether there was danger of contamination contam-ination of surface waters. d'Olier told him that it might be possible as things moved along to sell power to other municipal plants. He said the geothermal water would be reintroduced into the reservoir to renew the resource, and that it contained contain-ed too much boron and other I salts, thoueft onlv 8,000 ppm Clair Lee and Craig Davis, Dav-is, Beaver County Advertising Advertis-ing Committee, showed the Commissioners the new county brochure.
