Superintendent H a s 1 e m -reported that he had met with the teachers concerned in staff reduction and assignment as-signment changes. Assignments Assign-ments were then viewed with the board, and the following fol-lowing changes: Milford Elementary School: Present staff with allowance al-lowance to employ a new teaching principal and teacher. teach-er. Belknap Elemenatry School: Present staff plus Mr. Lynn Bradshaw returning return-ing from Minersville. Minersville School: Mrs. Louise Long, teaching Kindergarten, Kin-dergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades. Mr. Richard Limb teaching 3rd and 4th grades and Mr. Jesse E. Longteach-ing Longteach-ing 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. Supt. Haslem informed the board that the schedules for the high schools will be presented pre-sented at the next board meetine. approval at the April board meeting. Mr. Val Smith, a teacher at Belknap School, met with three students to report on the class field trip to the State Capitol Building, the planetarium and other points of interest in Salt Lake City. He reported that 14 parents accompanied the class to help the teacher. Supt. Haslem informed the board that the BelknapSchool was sponsoring the spelling bee for the elementary pupils pu-pils of the district and had purchased some awards. The school has had a spelling spell-ing bee for anumberof years and has invited other schools to participate this year. The matter of Milford High School going to State in basketball bas-ketball and the studentbody of the school will want to be in attendance at the games was discussed with the board. The Superintendent reported re-ported that the Northwest Association of Secondary Schools has fully accredited accredit-ed Beaver High School and has accredited Milford High School with advisement. No time has been set for negotiations, but the Superintendent Super-intendent reported he is ready to go. The board suggested sug-gested that performance dollars dol-lars be included in the budget. bud-get. Superintendent Haslem reviewed re-viewed changes in the law and under a new concept of vocational vo-cational education, some vocational vo-cational moneys "can be spent in the elementary schools. Milford High would like to send science students to the SUSC science fair. The cost of about$50 was approved. approv-ed. The board ordered the cut off date for accepting applications ap-plications for custodian and school lunch manager for Belknap School be March 20. A selection will be made at the April board meeting. The board examined the two proposals for 1978-1979 school calendar. The proposal pro-posal preferred by the board will be discussed with the faculties and then a recom -mendation for board approva will be presented for board |
