Show tea cdDacTD-D-oaO? Milford has a very small, but very vociferous minority. This minority amounts to probably less than a half dozen people as a nucleus, and even less at times. However, at diverse moments of dissent, dis-sent, they rally other dissenters about them until the community awakens to the fact, they don't know what they're talking about. Right now they're gloating around town that they gave the bums rush to Coach Nielsen and Miss Ramsay. In the case of Coach Nielsen, nothing could be further from the truth, even though their abuse in the past year would have certainly chased a lesser individual. However, How-ever, Coach Nielsen left Milford for a 3 -A school, and a step up in the coachingranks. Had he not been able to advance his career, he most certainly would have led the Tigers to another state championship, despite the abuse of a few. Miss Ramsay, a fine English teacher, Is gone. And while there are undoubtedly other reasons, we're sure that abuse by these self-appointed critics dW 1 n fact Influence her decision to leave. Now, of course, they're not the only teachers who've suffered at the sharp tongues of these loud mouths. It's doubtful that a teacher in the Milford system has escaped. We don't advocate a pristine atmosphere atmos-phere for teachers. They should be accountable ac-countable for their actions. But proper channels are available and should be used. A back-biting campaign over the neighbor's fence or on Main Street is not proper procedure. pro-cedure. These loud mouths always claim to represent the majority of the community. They always have all the facts at least they claim to. They're loud and obnoxious, and most people just nod agreement while looking for a way to escape. Fortunately, Nielsen's success of past years makes Milford a desirable coaching position for a beginning coach. There'll be no shortage of applicants. A teacher has already been hired to replace Miss Ram -say. So once more Milford High School will be staffed with competent people. But, remember back a half dozen years it was pretty hard to find teachers for Milford. Teachers, like most of us, want to be treated with respect and consideration. If your kid is a brat that isn't perform -ing in class, or falls from an A to a C on his report card, they are generally more than willing to discuss with you the reasoning reason-ing behind their action. But they're hardly prepared to accept the sharp -tongued, often vulgar abuse, heaped on them by this minority. If Milford is to continue to hire com petent teachers and coaches, the majority of parents and fans must silence this loud m inority. Don't nod your approval of their venom as you look for escape. Tell them straight out that you disapprove of their action. Dont leave it to George stand up and be counted! "Red" |
