Show Sf r A BEAVER COUNTY Range rides for Beaver County have been scheduled. Rides are conducted each year in early spring to survey sur-vey conditions of both the range and wildlife following follow-ing the winter season. All interested persons are welcome wel-come to participate. April 5 - Beaver Table, Racetrack, 9:00 a.m., Dennis Den-nis Aim. April 6 - B Hill, Racetrack, Race-track, 9:00 ajn., Dennis Aim. April 7 - Ranch Canyon -Mineral Mts., Milford, 9:00 a.m., Dennis Aim. April 8 - East Side-Mineral Mtn., Milford, 9:00 a.m., Dennis Aim. COUGARBEAR SEASONS SET Regulations pertaining to the hunting of cougar and bear in Utah for the 1977-78 1977-78 period were established in the latest meeting of the State's Wildlife Board. Most regulations remain the same as in past years; however, notable changes were instituted insti-tuted in the guidelines for both species. Cougar Cougar hunting will be open year-round again in the Southern Region: Beaver, Iron, Millard, Piute, Sevier, Washington, and parts of Garfield, Kane and Wayne counties. The Henry Mountains Moun-tains Area comprises the portions of Garfield, Kane and Wayne counties closed to cougar hunting. The re- mainder of the State will be open to cougar hunting from November 2, 1977, through April 15, 1978, except in the Northwestern Area:BoxEld-er, Area:BoxEld-er, Cache, Davis, Morgan, Rich, Salt Lake, Summit, Utah and Weber counties. (Salt Lake and . Utah counties coun-ties are newly closed counties coun-ties for the coming season). Hunters should also take note that It is illegal to take cougar cou-gar on all elk, moose, buffalo, buf-falo, antelope and bighorn hunting units during their respective seasons. Cougar may be pursued statewide with a valid 1977-78 1977-78 pursuit permit, including the Northwestern Area, but excluding the Henry Mountains Moun-tains Area, from November 2, 1977, through April 15, 1978, and year-round in the Southern Region as described above. Pursuit permits do not entitle pursuers to possess pos-sess a Utah cougar -bear pursuit pur-suit permit and a, regular cougar perm it simultaneously. simultaneous-ly. Any cougar shall be legal game during the prescribed seasons except any kitten with spots or lion accompanied accompa-nied by young. The season limit in all areas open to hunting is one lion except in Beaver, Iron and Washington Wash-ington counties and in those parts of Kane and Garfield counties west of the following follow-ing described boundaries: Beginning at the Utah -Arizona state line and the Par la River, thence, northerly along the Paria River to Cannonville, thence, northeasterly north-easterly along Highway U-54 U-54 through Escalante and Boulder to the Garfield-. Garfield-. Wayne County line. Season limit in the area previously previous-ly described is two lions. Daily bag limit in this area is one cat. 20 guage. Muzzleloading shotguns are permissible. It is unlawful to use shot sizes larger than BB or smaller than No. 6 to minimize mini-mize crippling loss. check or money order in the correct amount to cover the cost of permits for which application is made. Changes in the proclamation proclama-tion make it illegal to take, hunt or pursue wild turkeys with anything except a bow and broadhead arrows or a shot gun no larger than 10 guage and no smaller than If a second cougar is tak-en tak-en under the provisions described de-scribed above, it must be properly tagged according to the taggingprocedures set forth in the proclamation. A second permit and tag may be purchased at any Wildlife Resources office. Cost for the second permit will be the same as the original permit (resident - $15, nonresident non-resident - $150.) As in years past, all cougars cou-gars taken must be delivered deliver-ed to a conservation officer or to one of the Division offices of-fices within forty -eight (48) hours after the date of kill for the purpose of obtaining physical measurements. Cats may be field dressed, but the hide must remain attached at-tached to the carcass. Bear Bear hunting in Utah will be legal during 1977 from April 16, 1977, through June 15, 1977, and September 1, 1977, through October 15, 1977. All areas of the State Will be open to bear hunting except the Northwestern Area, which is comprised of Box Elder, Cache, Rich, Weber, Morgan, Sum it, Tooele, Too-ele, Davis, Salt Lake, Utah and Juab counties. Tooele, Salt Lake, Utah and Juab counties are newly closed counties this year. Also, elk, moose, buffalo, antelope and bighorn hunting units are closed to bear hunting during dur-ing their prescribed seasons. |
