Show Three council positions and two propositions for water wa-ter system improvement bonds are at stake when Milford Mil-ford voters go to the polls next Tuesday. With no incumbents up for re-election, there is still a choice for the first time In many years for councilman, council-man, with the Democrats .ticket carrying John Easton, Lou Jean Hanley and Harlan Har-lan Thomas, and the Loyal Opposition ticket boasting Ronald J. Brinkman, Leo Willis Finch and Lee R. Pettey. All councllmen are elected at large so the top three vote getters will be elected. Some voters are confused into thinking that because candidates are opposite one another on the ballot that they are running against each other. This is not so and voters may vote for any three candidates they like best, regardless of their position on the ballot. Ballot position is determined deter-mined alphabetically up and down and the party in power gets first position on the ballot, with succeeding tickets tick-ets positioned by time of filing. In Minersville where Only two seats are up for election this year, the Republicans have filed Richard Albrecht and Vy Louise Marshall. The Democratic ticket is Mrs. Daisy Gillins and Keith Dot-son. Dot-son. Beaver City boasts seven candidates for three positions. posi-tions. The Democrats filed Mack Patterson and Dan Martin, while the Republicans Republi-cans filed Howard W. Bradshaw, Brad-shaw, Rex M.Carter and Dan F. Joseph. Filed on the Independent In-dependent ticket by petition were incumbents Leon E. Paice andRonaldE. Roberts. Milford will also vote on two water propositions. Proposition One is for $230,-000, $230,-000, which are interest-free with the bonds to be purchased pur-chased by the Water Resources Re-sources Dept. and the money used to do an approved portion por-tion of upgrading of the water system, including a perimeter peri-meter line to eliminate all dead-end lines and equalize water pressures. A number of laterals and fire hydrants are included in the plan. In the event that the Water Resources Board does not buy these bonds, they probably prob-ably will not be sold since they bear no Interest. The project has been approved by the Dept. of Water Resources, Re-sources, but no allocation has been made. Proposition Two is more open ended. It is for $110,000 General Obligation Water Bonds bearing an interest 1 rate not to exceed 9. These bonds are limited only to Improvement, modifications, modi-fications, additions or extensions ex-tensions of the existing water wa-ter system. The intent is not to sell them immediately, but to use them as matching match-ing funds when grants and loans become available for completion of the water project pro-ject started several years ago. The total plan includes a new well and storage tank. The purpose of the Council In passing Proposition No. 2 at this time is to avoid j the expense of a bond elec-i elec-i tion at a later date, and also " to be In a position to move fast when grant monies become be-come available. The bonds may be held up to five years before being sold. If passed, (Continued on Page 2) ELECTION (Cont. from Pg, j) the council could use them at any time they see fit, is long as they tie them to the exist, ing water system.
