Show Dear 'Red': We are leaving Salt Lake; tired of the cold weather. We are going to California, a little village 14 miles south of Santa Barbara. The climate cli-mate is ideal, and to add to our enjoyment of the beach, the train passes thru just one and a half blocks from our cottage - so -we hear the whistle as it reaches the crossing. We look forward to the Beaver County News. Kindest regards, J. D. Ryan cropping the plan approximately approxi-mately an inch and one half, top and bottom. This contained con-tained , besides your husband's hus-band's name, such Information Informa-tion as scale of drawing, proposed shrubs, etc. Cropping Crop-ping saved approximately 18 inches of space which permitted per-mitted us to print that much more news, which we felt was more important. While we are sure Mr. Muir did spend many hours, the drawing mostly was taken from one made by the Lions Club many years ago, and modified, but slightly, with the preliminary design being the input of the whole Historical Histor-ical Society present at several sev-eral meetings. The Bicentennial Projects, Pro-jects, as with the race track, golf course, ball parks, city park, youth park, centennial, Christmas program, Easter Egg Hunt, and all the many other fine projects in the community, are "community" "com-munity" projects. Most people peo-ple who work on them shun publicity. Most work because they believe In the good of the project, not for recognition. Most of these projects, if identified with an individual instead of the community as a whole, would fail. It is the purpose of this ' newspaper to promote community com-munity projects, not the in-divldual. in-divldual. We. believe we do that effectively. We find your criticism of this newspaper and the rest of Milford unfounded un-founded and unwarranted. Few in our community achieve notoriety from crime. sure to pick up your copy and STUDY it. The Equal Rights Am-mendment Am-mendment may be coming up soon. I was talking with a friend about it the other day. ' 'It really doesn't matter how Utah votes," she said, "only 5 more states are needed to ratify the ammendment and then it will become law anyway." any-way." That may be true, but we still have the privilege and duty to let our representatives repre-sentatives know how we stand - whether it be for or against. Rep. Georgia Peterson, House Minority Whip, says that Utah laws already provide pro-vide for most of the issues in the ERA Ammendment, and has prepared a 14-point bill which would take care of the rest - and still keep the administrating power within the state instead of handing it to the Federal Gov't, as would the other when it takes effect. The passage of the ERA will likely open up a long period per-iod of confusion. Do we really real-ly want our daughters drafted draft-ed along with our sons if war should come again? Do we want a sexless - or should I say unisex - society? Do we want women to have to perform per-form the same amount of physical labor as a man? Do we want abortion privileges for any woman just because she doesn't want to be burdened burd-ened with children? Do we want the father of the family to be relieved of the responsibility respon-sibility to provide for his wife and children? We do want equal pay for equal work - that's already part of our Utah State Laws! There are many pro's and con's. Study them for yourself. your-self. Then let your legislators legisla-tors know how you stand. After all, that's what they are there for - to represent YOU. Carol Lemon Minersville ED's NOTE: The first bills haven't arrived yet. As soon as they are printed and we receive them we'll put a notice no-tice in the News. LETTERS port on TV the other day. Seems a 6th grade class has been taking a poll to see how many Utahns have ever contacted con-tacted their legislators to let them know how they stand on impending issues. Surprisingly, Surpris-ingly, very few had made the effort, and many did not even know who was representing them. Senator Leavltt and Rep. Washburn are sending out copies of legislation to be acted upon. Copies are available avail-able at the NEWS office. Be Dear Editor; I am writing this letter be -cause I am very upset about the way that my husband's name, Byron C. Muir, was cut off of the bottom of the proposed plan for the historical histor-ical park. The plan was printed in the Beaver County News on January 16, 1975. I felt that It was pretty ignorant of whoever had the plan printed to take the name off of the person that spent many long hard hours drawing draw-ing the plan for the Hisorical Society. I feel that it is just about time that a, few unrecognized people of this town should be given credit for their accomplishments ac-complishments In the community, com-munity, Instead of a few prominent Milford citizens getting all the praise for everything that happens in this town. When I moved to this town about a year ago, I felt like I was moving to a pretty good place. But, I found that only a very few people get to be recognized. The only way that the other people of this town is even heard of is to commit a crime. Don't you and the citizens of Milford feel that every person in this town should have a place and not just a few. I hope that this letter will help the people to realize that everybody has a place in this world and everyone should be given a chance. Thank you, Mrs. Jan. O. Muir ED'S NOTE: We're guilty of Dear Mr. Wilson, Enclosed please find my check for $5.50 to renew my subscription for another i year.
