The larger schools are eager to get our monies and sprinkle our students among their already full classrooms. class-rooms. The Lady Lions are asking each and every person, including students, in this community to help defeat this law. You can do this by phoning the State House of Representatives, Ph. 1-325-5171, and ask for Dewaine C. Washburn, or Ph. 1-328-5701 and ask for Senator Dixie Leavltt. Ask to talk to the men personally. Some reasons already suggested are: The school is the heart of a small community. com-munity. Remove it and the city dies. Some people move to small towns to escape busing. The price of gas is going up, up, up; give the money spent on gas to the teachers to stay In the small town. During the winter, schooling will be denied several times to students in small towns because of impassable impas-sable roads. This town is expecting a great influx of people. Students whose parents have money run the big schools. Gangs rule in too -large schools. Dope and crime are much higher in a large school. Extra currlcular activities will be denied to small town students, with busing and consolidation. Yet, they are as important import-ant in producing "people who achieve" as the three R's. The teacher -student ratio is more conducive to learning in small schools. Each student is important In the teachers eyes, so he becomes an important person.
