Show FCAG District Health Planning Emergency Number The first meeting to reactivate re-activate the Emergency Medical Services Council (EMS) was held recently at the Washington County Court House in St. George. A good representation was present from a variety of service programs from the five-county five-county area. Art Anderson of IRMP presented a program on the 911 Emergency Telephone System for Southwestern Utah. The 911 System is designed de-signed to provide a single emergency number that can be accessed 24 hours a day for allemergency situations. The program offered would Include equipment, development de-velopment of a response protocol pro-tocol in all communities, publicity stickers, etc., to promote the new system and operating funds for the first year. Dick Warburton and Del-bert Del-bert Sperry from the State Department of Health presented pre-sented a program on Emergency Emer-gency Medical Services. Organizational Or-ganizational structure of the State and District were discussed dis-cussed and a look at the Emergency Medical Training Train-ing Course to be conducted in the area was presented. The first EMT course will bes-in in St. Genre-e the lat- ter part of this month with a course scheduled for Cedar City in March. Mr. Sperry discussed the future outlook for emergency ambulance service in Southern South-ern Utah. He discussed the different types of ambulances ambulanc-es available and the advantages advant-ages of each. He also said that of the 36 ambulances made available to communities communi-ties in Utah, three were placed plac-ed our District. One is in St. George, one in Parowan, and one in Church Wells, Kane County. There arealso monies mon-ies available to go towards upgrading existing ambulances ambu-lances in the State. A survey sur-vey of these ambulances will be done in the near future. Those interested persons who would like to take the EMT course should contact Dr. W. David Trafton, Southwestern South-western District Health Department. De-partment. The course is designed de-signed for Jeep Patrol members, mem-bers, ambulance drivers rescue units, etc. |
