Show BEAVER BUZZIN'S Gaii Webster 438-2233 the Mission and destiny of the church. About 200 members of the Beaver Stake availed themselves of this excellent opportunity to hear these fine speakers. Mr. Wayne Crook co-ordinated the day for Beaver Stake. Two coming events of spe. cial interest are on this Sat. urday, January 18th. Beaver High School will host a wrestling tournament between be-tween Beaver, South Sevier, Millard, and Milford. The time is scheduled to begin is at 1:00 p.m. Adult tickets will be $2.50 for the day(two rounds) or $1.50 for a half day (one round) . Students will be charged $ .75. The Beaver Stake is sponsoring the Gold and Green Ball that evening at 8. -00 p.m. in the Beaver Armory. This will be for all those 14 years old (MIA Maid and Venturer) and older and should be a fun evening. Church volleyball for the girls has begun in earnest and this provides fun and exercise ex-ercise for many of the girls In the area. Beaver's third Ward traveled to Milford on Saturday morning to play Milford Second Ward. The Beaver girls Included Beehives, Bee-hives, Melora Webster and Cindy Carter; 1st year MIA Maids, Cindy Webster, Jacie Carter, Nanette Smith, Sandy Lesslng, Terrle Hutchings; 2nd year MIA Maids were Carolyn Williams, Bonnie Baker and Emmaline Bitsie; Laurels wereDyAnnOsborn, Wendy Bozanson and Nalani White. These girls were divided di-vided into two teams. The Beehives and 1st year MIA Maids combined and Beaver won 2 out of 3 games in their match. The 2nd year MA Maids and Laurels played play-ed together and Milford won the first two games in this older bracket. All enjoyed the outing. The student council held a girls choice dance on Saturday Satur-day evening, giving all those girls who have had their eye on a special fellow a chance to see if he really is that interesting. in-teresting. Saturday afternoon from 2 to 9 was Church Education Day for Beaver Stake. It was an excellent opportunity for all the Latter-day Saints in the area to get additional information in-formation from knowledge -' able brethern concerning gospel subjects. Dr. Richard Cowan and Mr. Monte S.Ny-man, S.Ny-man, professors at BYU, alternated al-ternated hours and discussed several topics ranging from the fullness of the Gospel to Snow, snow, that wonderful wonder-ful stuff! We are all enjoying the storms the past week. There is a magical touch to the world when covered in white. Admittedly, the snow slowed down a few things but for the most part, everyone every-one moved right along. At Beaver High School, the basketball and wrestling teams kept busy. The wrestlers wrest-lers had two matches this week; Hurricane topped us 40 to 12, but Beaver took a tough one from Milford, 33-18. It is interesting to note that many of the Beaver wrestlers wrest-lers are in top places in Region Re-gion 8, Class A standings. Ricky Jarvls at 145 lbs. is in first place, and holding down second place in their respective re-spective weight classes are, Wade Bradshaw, 98 lbs.; Scott Bozarth, 105 lbs.; Brad Waters, 115 lbs.; Roger Bradshaw, 132 lbs.; Kelly Bradshaw, 167 lbs.jandCul-len lbs.jandCul-len Carter, 185 lbs. The Beaver basketball team met Piute here on our home court Wednesday night and lost the JV contest 52-41, but won the Varsity game 63-50. It was an exciting evening and put Beaver in third place in basketball bas-ketball standings for Region 8, Class 1A. The boys placed again Friday night, winning over Parowan 67-51. The drama class of Mr. Larry Cantwell put on two one -act plays at the high school Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. "The Little Red Schoolhouse" and "Final Dress Rehearsal" were produced pro-duced and enjoyed by the students, stu-dents, faculty, and some townspeople. It is indeed entertaining en-tertaining to see these young people perform and we ap- |
