Passage of the Model Subdivision ordinance was no help, since no one would read It. Roy Gray told the council that he had purchased the Mountain View Estates subdivision sub-division 1 with 36 building lots and also 48 lots in the Lewis addition from Kirk Realty. He said that he was representing re-presenting interstate Homes and that Burton Myers from Beaver was to do his build - ing. He stated that he had six homes sold and wanted to get started, as soon as possible. He asked the city for help in building the streets. He said that if they would contract the work he would pay the cost. Mayor Young said that he would see what could be done In this respect. re-spect. Gray also asked for relief re-lief from the $180 hookup fee for sewer and water, permission to use plastic pipe Instead of clay as per the city's specifications, and asked for help In retrieving partial cost of sewer and water construction, when other property owners hook into the system laid at his expense. Mayor and council were firm that there could be no variance in the hookup fee. They said that they would look Into the plastic pipe, to see If it would meet city specifications and that the City Attorney was presently pre-sently looking Into legal ways to make property owners own-ers hooking into lines laid at the developer's expense by their property, pay their fair share of the cost. Mayor Young said that this had long been a problem to developers, and Swain said he had the Attorney on the problem already. Myers said that Beaver City had worked out an agreement that could be of use to Milford, in this respect. re-spect. Gray said he was also planning some eight unit apartments, If things go right. He expressed a need for such facilities under present pre-sent conditions and expressed express-ed optimism in expected growth of the area. Mayor Young said he had a request form the new owners of the Sunnyslde Subdivision, recently purchased pur-chased by LaVae Smith, for help with contracting street work at the developers expense. ex-pense. 1 Gray also asked that the city make renters responsible responsi-ble for water bills on rentals, rent-als, stating the expense was to much for the property owner. Mayor Young told him the responsibility had to remain with the property owner, stating they made the profit and should take the risk." A discussion on the need for meters went on. In high school, the spring sports of track, baseball, and golf absorb most of the participants in a small school. The fine tennis courts lay idle, except for leisure play. With courts accessible, the cost of the pro gram would be minimal compared to . other sports. The interest built would likely carry through the rest of the year, and make better use of existing ex-isting facilities. We've found the girls to be fierce competitors, and surely a credit to the school. Besides, Be-sides, we like the cute tennis outfits. |
