Mr. George Ferguson of the BLM In Fillmore told the group that BLM would grant a lease on the Roosevelt Roose-velt Springs KGRA (known Geothermal Resource Area) this calendar year. He said his office was presently engaged en-gaged in writing an environmental envir-onmental Impact study (E. I. S.) on the area, preparatory pre-paratory to putting it up for bids. He said the size of the first lease had not yet been determined . One lease, Ferguson said, could be as big as 2565 acres down to 40 acres. A KGRA is determined in one of three ways. By geological structure, competitive com-petitive interest and discovery. discov-ery. He said, the Roosevelt Roose-velt Springs area had so many overlapping bids in January, as many as 10 on different areas, that the KG RA was formed. This particular area is also the only one in Utah sporting a grandfather claim he said, which was a factor in determining Rossevelt Springs KGRA as the first lease to be opened to competitive com-petitive bidding. The public meeting held by BLM on the proposed leasing of a block of land for geothermal development in the Roosevelt Springs area last Thursday drew a good representation of interested citizens and public officials.
