Show Golfers Told Tlieir Support Still Needed ing questions and explaining that the Assn. was set up as a legal entity. Davis said that the most immediate need was to com -plete the dirt work, mulch the greens with peat moss and get them and the fairways fair-ways seeded. The water will be ready to turn on with the arrival of the last equipment equip-ment this week. Next most immediate need for funds will be for maintenance main-tenance equipment, he said. This is needed as soon as the grass begins growing. It's estimated that a minimum mini-mum of 100 full memberships member-ships are needed to complete com-plete the first five holes, ready to play. Only 52 were received last year. He said that the Board was working on applications to BOR (Bureau of Recreation) and tlie Bi -Centennial Commission Com-mission for matching funds to complete tlie last four holes, and a driving range. Russel Mayer made aplea for everyone to come out and lend a hand. He said, "If you don't want to work, come out any way and see what we've accomplished." Members of the Milford Golf Assn. were toldTues- day evening that Milford's Golf Course had come along way during the past year. President J. H. Davis told the group that over $30,000 had been expended for sprinkling system, seed and land and water acquisition. Added to this he said are many more thousands of dollars dol-lars in volunteer labor and equipment. So much he said that it 's difficult to put a price on it. However, the job is not finished, there is much still to be done before the greens ' and fairways can be seeded. He urged all members to come on out and see what we've accomplished. Financing to this point has been accomplished in small part by membership dues, he said. Most of the funds expended to date came from a $25,000 loan made by the Board of Trustees, from the Milford State Bank. The Union Pacific Railroad made a $1,000 gift and the Centennial Cen-tennial Committee gave us $1,500. To continue, we must look to memberships. He asked all members to help recruit re-cruit more members. Please pay dues early, so we can put the money to use completing the first five holes. The dues year starts April 1 and a full membership member-ship is $100.00. He told the group that Father Valine had donated the St. Bridget's Catholic Church to the Golf Assn. and that plans were made to move it shortly after Easter. The buildings will be used for a clubhouse and storage facilities. Bruce Mayer wentover the articles of incorporation and corporation bylaws, answer - |
