Show Schramm's Sell Garage To Roy Gray and Sons Milford received a new businessman busi-nessman and a full-time business busi-ness this week when Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gray and sons took over the B & M Sales from Mr. and Mrs. Bob Schramm. Formerly of Detroit, - Mich, and for the past fifteen years living in California, the Grays moved here with their five sons, from Pomona, Calif. Not total strangers to the area, The Grays have visited here with Mrs. Grays parents, George Coyle, and brother, Jan and sister, Mrs. Tom Gray. Roy and his two sons Gary and Tim who will be working together in the garage are top mechanics. Roy has some 15 years experience and the boys have some schooling as well as practical experience working with their dad. Mrs. Gray (Joan) will bide her time between home and the garage, and twins Bruce and Brian, 14 and Keith 13. have entered MHS. Family hobbies include camping, camp-ing, hunting and fishing and restoring antique cars. Roy likes to do a little inventing in his spare time and has applied for a couple of patents on his ideas. The Schramms aren't looking for a rocking chair just yet. Bob and Marge own the Puffer Puf-fer Lake Resort and will continue con-tinue to devote their time to that, plus Bob will be working work-ing with the Grays for awhile in the garage. Bob and Marge first went into business on Milford's Main Street in 1944, and have operated a business there continuously con-tinuously for the past 27 years. They started with just a Standard Service Station, where Ron's Chevron is now, In 1946 they acquired the Studebaker dealership and in 1950 they took a Buick dealership and moved it in across the street, operating both businesses under un-der Schramm's Auto Service. Somewhere along the way the station was changed over to Chevron and they added GMC and Jeep to their auto sales. In 1955 they dropped the Studebaker line and in '57 they sold their station and moved everything into the present location across the the street. In 1960 they bought Puffer Lake Resort, and after trying to operate both businesses, they decided to do only one at a time and closed the garage in the summer and the resort in the winter. A fine reputation in business, busi-ness, and friends to all of Milford, the Schramms will be missed on Main Street. |
