Through the enterprise of Arthur James this station of the Salt Lake is fast becoming known as the distributing point for a very active mining district. dis-trict. There are about nine companies com-panies operating in the Antelope Ante-lope group of the Mineral Range about ten miles from Blackrock. The little hotel is crowded to its fullest capacity every day and Mr. James' store is doing a thriving business. busi-ness. This enterprising merchant mer-chant is running a jitney from the store to the mines and making mak-ing free deliveries of supplies. His prices are high enough to cover the cost and it saves the miners the bother of coming to the store. FORTY-TWO YEARS AGO February 22, 1929 D.pn't forget Old Maid's convention con-vention at the Methodist church on March 1 of this year. Miss Audrey Raines gave a costume party at her home on Thursday, Feb. 14. Each guest present wore an old fashioned costume. Those present were the Misses Catherine Brad-field, Brad-field, Maxine Kirk, Bernice Outzen, Ranee Smith, Esther Crawford, Stella Hollis, Vernice Smith and Erma Hickman. TWENTY-FOUR YEARS AGO February 28, 1947 Mr. and Mrs. William Wun-derlich Wun-derlich are happy over their baby girl, born Saturday, Feb. 22. Sally Jones had her tonsils out on Monday at the Milford Hospital. A boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Phil Larson on February 23. PAIR SURVIVE COCLD NIGHT IN PINE VALLEY Heber Davis and Jerry Eyre, both of Minersville became stranded in Pine Valley in the snow storm last weekend. When the two men did not return to Minersville when they were expected last Saturday, Satur-day, members of the Jeep Patrol Pa-trol and others from Minersville Miners-ville people started out to find them. It took the search party all night and until 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning to reach the. Cougar Spar turnoff from Hiway 21, about 30 miles, and of the two men who had spent from here they seen the fire the night in their pickup with the engine running off and on to keep warm. They were Okay and were returned home about noon Sunday. |
