Show ANTELOPE TRAPPING SUCCESSFUL The Utah Fish and Game Divsion's antelope trapping operation op-eration at Lusk, Wyoming resulted re-sulted in the capture of 155 antelope. Despite high winds and difficult trapping conditions, condi-tions, Division personnel were successful in obtaining a good proportion of bucks, does, and fawns for transplanting in Utah. The antelope trapped were part of a herd causing damage to agricultural lands near Lusk in eastern Wyoming, and were removed in cooperation with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. The animals were driven into a wing trap using a helicopter. They were then loaded into a commercial livestock live-stock carrier for transportation to the release sites. Eighty-four antelope were released re-leased at Hatchj Point in San Juan County; the remainirg 71 animals were released on Myton Bench in Duchesne County. The release in San Juan County Coun-ty is a new introduction for that area, but antelope formerly inhabited the Myton Bench area. ar-ea. They disappeared from that araa in the late 20's. Sportsmen can consider their money well spent on this project, pro-ject, which should result in the establishment of huntable herds in these areas. |
