Show WILDLIFE SOCIETY RECOGNIZES SPORTSMEN The Wildlife Society has declared de-clared its opposition to legislation legisla-tion ". . . that impedes or prohibits pro-hibits the legitimate use or acquisition ac-quisition of sporting firearms and ammunition." The Society, with headquarters headquart-ers in Washington, D. C, is for professionals in biological or related re-lated fields of wildlife conservation. conserva-tion. Their statement outlining their position said that, ". . . restrictive re-strictive measures which discourage dis-courage the American hunter's pursuit of his sport will not only curtail wildlife conservation conserva-tion and game management programs pro-grams but will also reduce present pre-sent opportunities for outdoor recreation." Sportsmen's license fees and excise taxes paid on guns and ammunition provide most of the funds for wildlife conservation and game management in Utah. Critics of hunters and hunting seasons should be willing to 'put their money where their mouth is' and instead of criticizing critici-zing sportsmen, join with them in wildlife conservation |
