Show NO MORE STAMP i SALES AT SCHOOLS The U. S. Saving Stamps program passes into history on June 30, but the Treasury Savings Sav-ings Bonds Division will continue con-tinue to encourage efforts to teach thrift and good citizenship citizen-ship in the classrooms of the schools. In announcing the end of the Savings Stamps sales, Secretary Sec-retary of the Treasury David M. Kennedy urged youngsters to continue to save through the purchase of U. S. Savings Bonds. "There is no better way for young people to save," he said, "than by buying and holding U. S. Savings Bonds." Milford Unit No. 16, American Amer-ican Legion Auxiliary, has sponsored sale of U. S. Savings Sav-ings Stamps in the Milford Elementary School for many years, and will continue their weekly offering of stamps until un-til the close of the school year, according to Mrs. Judy Briscoe, chairman of the program for the local Auxilary. Mrs. Briscoe urged all students stu-dents to complete their books so they can be exchanged for bonds, and also suggested the students start a "treasure hunt" in their homes, looking in drawers and out-of - the - way places for loose stamps which have not been pasted in their books. |
