Show 9 2iuuta, Bid 9 Jfeatd By STEVE WILLIAMS The Tigers did it again! Don't think our Milford High baskctballers have "gone to State" since they started thu blankety-blank Round Robin a few years ago. We've had the talent, we've won or placed high enough in district and region re-gion play to earn a state berth, then been eliminated in the asinine Round Robin. And why a Round Robin? To raise money for other departments de-partments of the school. The basketball boys are robbed of their chance to compete at State so other school departments depart-ments can benefit from the ticket sales. Last year, after beating Delta twice in league play, Delta dropped the Tigers in the Round Robin and we were out. This year, we defeated Beaver twice in league play, and for the first time in years the Beavers knocked off the Tigers ... in the Round Robin. How much longer will school patrons, parents of the kids, allow administrators to be dictators? dic-tators? Only good thing, so far as Milford is concerned, that came out of the Round Robin was the well-deserved naming of Ken Holm to the All-Region team. Dave Erickson wondered "what gives" with Dan Valentine's Valen-tine's Monday Wash Line this week. Says he counted 35 major errors and other minor ones, and some of the words were so garbled Dan must have been inhaling joy juice when he wrote it. Dave says the Beaver County Coun-ty News readers are used to deciphering such, but he feels sorry for other folks trying to read the column. Wonder if we'll have any of those fragrant lilacs this year. The lilac bushes are already budding . . . time for a killing kill-ing frost and then no lilacs. The Lions Club is still seeking seek-ing old glasses and old frames for the specs. They'll be used in the Lions' Sight Conservation Conserva-tion program. Several have been turned in at The News office, and many more can be used. Take a look in your old dresser drawers and other places, and if you have glasses you can't use, drop them off at The News office. |
