Show MINUTES OF MEETING. OF CO. COMMISSION All members of the Beaver County Commission -were present pres-ent fcr the regular meeting on Friday, May 5. Following are the nvnutes of the meeting, prepared by County Clerk C. Victor Smith. Bills having been sent several sever-al months ago to Ray Kesler, Bill Dalton and Sheral Carter for private work done by th.2 county road equipment, and no payment having been received. Commissioners Lee and Myers stated they would again contact con-tact the individuals for payment, pay-ment, and it was further moved by Comm. Lee, seconded by Comm. Myers and passed, that if the bills were not paid within with-in 30 days they be turned over to the county attorney for collection. col-lection. It was moved by Comm. Lee, seconded by Comm. Myers, that $700 be appropriated for the Beaver County Livestock Show, with the provision that the organization give Beaver County Coun-ty an accounting of the expenditure expen-diture of the money. Discussion was had, further cn acquiring the fee title to flow easement land of the Big Wash project so that the land could then be transferred to American Mining Co. on which to build a mill. Comm. Tolley reported on his trip to confer with the Bureau of Land Management. Man-agement. He was authorized to follow through with the matter. mat-ter. Sheriff Mel Tait again requested re-quested that his appointment of the entire Jeep Patrol as deputy sheriffs be approved. It was reported by the county's" Continued on Back Page . Myers, seconded sec-onded by Comm. Lee and unanimously passed that the appointment of the Jeep Patrol Pa-trol as unpaid deputy sheriffs be approved provided they first furnish evidence of auto-mobil auto-mobil eliability. The appointment appoint-ment of 18 members, who have indicated they have automobile liability, was approved. Sheriff Tait requested that a purchase order be issued by the county under which the Jeep Patrol members could purchase guns. The clerk objected ob-jected that such an act was illegal il-legal and that Beaver County would be responsible for both the guns and the payment. However, it was moved by Comm. Lee, seconded by Com. Myers and unanimously passed that the auditor be ordered to issue such a purchase order. The county auditor refused to do so, and the Board sought the county attorney to see if the order could be enforced. The county attorney advised that the county had no right to purchase property except for the county, and that the county auditor could not be compelled to issue a purchase order to purchase property for private individuals. Therupon the motion was rescinded. It was moved by Comm. Myers, seconded by Comm. Lee that justices of the peace be paid a minimum of $3 per traffic traf-fic case. May 31st, June 5th and 15th were set as dates on which the Board would meet as a Board of Equalization. Veteran abatements were approved in the listed percentage percent-age of disability for the following follow-ing veterans, widows, and blind: |
