High School on Washington's Birth Anniversary, Wednesday. The assembly was presented by Eighth Grade U S History students. EIGHTH GRADE ASSEMBLY ON FEB. 22 STRESSED FLAG HISTORY The American Legion Auxiliary Auxil-iary and the Eighth Grade History class sponsored the Washington's Birthday assembly assem-bly at Milford High School Wednesday fternoon. Mrs. Lillian Anderson, president presi-dent of the American Legion .uixiliary, spoke on American- im. She stressed the import- ..ice of patriotism and the nrican Flag, in keeping with the Aux'aary's program . bu.iiulating the public's in- rest in our country's flag. By portraying various American Amer-ican Presidents and heroes, the Eighth Grade U S History class traced the history of the xmericaa Flag, its meaning, and place in American history. George Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Smith, portrayed portray-ed George Washington, and Chad Ogden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ogden, portrayed Abraham Lincoln. The skit was narrated by Jackie Price and Janet Stoddard. Sylvia Ann Van Tassell and Vicki Marshall sang "Born Vree"; the Milford High School Band played "Bautiiul America," Amer-ica," "My Country 'Tis of Thee" and "Yankee Doodle." ' Other members of the cast were Scott Barnes, " George Campau, Clair Coates, Jeff Edwards, Ed-wards, Alton Honahi, Robert Jimenez, Steven Lund, Bobby Sly, Debbie Bolton, Sheild Jones and Barbara Wright. |
