Show LACK OF ADULT SUPPORT .WORRYS MRS STUDENTS A Very interesting and informative in-formative meeting was held Jan. 26 with members of th h'gh school student council and the representative committee for better communication. The students expressed their; ideas to improve their school and discussed ideas suggested by the student body to them. Dissatisfaction with dress code and inconsistency in the disciplinary measures were two main areas of concern discussed discuss-ed by the group. Students expressed ex-pressed their desire to meet with the school board on the district dress code and suggested suggest-ed that a poll be taken of students stu-dents as to their opinion of present policies. They felt there was a need for further clarification of the district disciplinary policy and that discipline should be administered ad-ministered fairly and consistently. consis-tently. Apathy on the part of both students and the parents was a topic of major concern. Parent Par-ent and community support of school activities have been extremely ex-tremely poor this year. Students Stu-dents noted the lack of enthusiasm enthus-iasm and school spirit within the student body. Poor attendance attend-ance of parents at parent-teacher conferences and school routings, plays, etc., were cited as evidence of lack of concern and interested that affected the school. Other ideas presented by the students were; the possibility of obtainting a counselor for students; senior students who had filled necessary requirements require-ments being allowed to attend college or work part time after second semester; the need for a student lounge; new lockers: benches in the halls for students stu-dents use; carpeting of stairs; and a pop machine. |
