Show BLACK ROCK NATIVE DIES IN ALAMO, CALIFORNIA Dr. Ralph A. James, 52, co-discoverer co-discoverer of americium, No. 95. and curium, No. 96, all radioactive ra-dioactive metallic elements, died Saturday in an Alamo hospital hos-pital of a heart attack. Dr. James was born Sept. 23, 1920 in Black Rock, Utah, to Arthur and Velora Styler James. He was a graduate of U of Calif, at Berkeley. It was during dur-ing his graduate work at Berkeley Berke-ley that Dr. James discovered the three elements incident to the atomic bomb. He is survived by his widow, two sons and a sister. He was a cousin to Beniti Burke, Tom James and Wanda Treat, all of Milford. He graduated from the 8th grade at Black Rock and attended at-tended high school at Wasatch. Academy, Mt. Pleasant. |
