The third and sixth grade boys, and a few of the girls have been putting on the gloves during physical education periods Paired off according to size and weight the boys fight three two-minute rounds. Judging s done by four of their contemporarys sitting ringside. The boxing program under the direc4:n of Mr. Al-brecht Al-brecht and Mr. Limb was scheduled as a spec:al activity for the students during the cold weather when they could not go outside during recesses. Besides the usual rules of the game any boy who lost his temper and got mad was eliminated from the lineup. As one young fellow' told us though, I got mad enough to hit back. A tournament to determine the best fighter wound up in a contest between Mark Whitney and Steve Moody with Steve getting the final nod from the judges. Other boxers shown in action on these pages are Regan Puffer and Bruce Lund, Nanette Dalton and Lori Brad-field, Brad-field, Glenn Thompson and Robert Bolton, Russell Rose and Fenton Thompson, and Vickie Whiting and Julie Coates. The girls seemed to enjoy the fisticuffs as much as the boys, and some of them can throw a mean punch. "You promised not to get mad." 6M f. miiimiiiiiinmii iirAj&ja .IIvlS.IUM CHECKER CHAMPS: Helping to pass the long, cold winter months was an all school checker tournament, in which the girls showed a definite superiority.
