SB111 Permit killing a dog while it is "attacking, chasing chas-ing or worrying" any species of protected wildlife or domesticated domes-ticated animals and fowls. HB-249 Providing for times of meetings o county boards of equalization, passed the House and now goes to the Senate. Also passed this week were the Utah Occupational Safety and Health Act and a bill removing re-moving the records of rehabilitated rehabili-tated criminals. A bill simplifying the State Income Tax Form passed the Senate. Friday, the Senate discussed the various no-fault insurance bills. Ed's Note: With the end of the 40th Legislature drawing to a close, If Gov. Rampton does not call a special session, we wish to take this opportunity to thank Rep. Washburn for his efforts to keep his constituents Informed through the columns of the News. Though we have make the same requests from Sen. Leavitt that were made of Rep. Washburn. Since Sen. Leavitt chose to use these columns col-umns only once during the entire en-tire session, we feel that this is an indication of his desire to represent his constituents. We sincerely hope that this lack of concern will be reflected at the polls, when Sen. Leavitt next runs for office. We call upon Sen. Leavitt here and now to make best use of this opportunity, opportun-ity, during the remainder of the session, and the wrapup. The following is a report from Rep. Washburn an items of interest to Southern Utah, acted on this past week by the Utah Legislature. Five bills were passed and now await action by the Governor: Gov-ernor: SB-86 Permit the Division of State Lands to award mineral min-eral leases on newly acquired state lands without the necessity neces-sity of public auction in exchange ex-change for a prior claim or right of lessee. SB-79 Revise procedures for handling defaults by purchasers pur-chasers of state land, eliminat-1 ing extensions of contract payments pay-ments beyond 90 days of the state's discretion. SB-81 Specify that state lands taken under Water Conservancy Con-servancy Act must be compensated compen-sated for at the appraised value. i |
